I haven't posted in a while, been busy with work and life and such, but I wanted to get a quick post in today on my lunch break. In between all of the craziness I have found a little time to work on the saloon. I have completely finished the downstairs floor. And let me tell you it was ALOT of skinny sticks! I'll have to look and see how many bags I went through. But I still think it was worth it - to me it looks so much better than the panels of wood flooring that I bought from Hobby Lobby. I like it even more just because it isn't perfect. I like how some boards look like they are different colors and how some have cracks and didn't fit exactly together. I think it's going to make the saloon look more original. Next I'll do the upstairs floor and then decide on a stain color. I could not have done this without my Easy Cutter - that was the best piece of equipment that I have invested in so far.
And here's a new pic of our little Olive. I've been trying my best to explain to her that what she calls her "beanbag" is actually in fact David's hackey sack. She doesn't understand why her favorite place to sit keeps disappearing. I believe that she thinks David uses it as a beanbag as well because she just keeps saying, "But it's Olive size!"

Olive is too cute! I think that the skinny sticks will look really great for a saloon floor too- can't wait to see it all stained. Isn't it exciting to get a new part of the dollhouse done!
I love this floor! I want to do this in my entire dollhouse! Guess I need to find an "Easy Cutter" somewhere. I didn't know that Hobby Lobby had miniatures either. I've only been there once and that was before I got my dollhouse.
Looks like it will be another place for me to visit often!
Thanks guys, I love the way the floors turned out as well. If you go to Hobby Lobby for the Easy Cutter look through the aisles where the woodworking stuff and the scale trains are. I called ahead to make sure they had them in stock since it's a 30 minute drive from my house. The person who answered had no clue what I was talking about, but I knew from other blogs that they carried them so I went searching myself. It's probably the single most useful item that I've bought for my dollhouse so far.
