I love Etsy. Who doesn't? If I had money to blow I imagine that most of it would be spent on that site. But until I'm rich I've settled for making my own version of some of my favorite Etsy items. One of my favorites for a long time has been the chandeliers made with Blue Ball Mason jars. I've been working on this one for a while. What do you think?
This is hanging from the skylight in our second bedroom/computer room.
So pretty!
(The skylight is very dirty :/ I tried to crop out the broken parts that are covered over. Our landlord is still working on fixing the storm damage from 04/27/11)
I just adore the blue color!
I had a hard time getting a good picture of the jars lit up. It's much prettier in person.
Another view looking back toward the window that is in front of my desk.
I used battery powered flicker candles - I'm not a real fan of fire above my head...
Sat them on the ground to take this one.
I'll try and get some better pictures and post those later. I think the chandelier would look so sweet hanging from a low tree limb over an outdoor picnic table or something.
And now for the details on this project:
Black mason jar basket from Walmart - $7.50
(My Mother actually bought the basket for me as a gift so technically it cost me $0.00)
Four Blue Ball Mason jars from the flea market - $16.00
(All 4 came with the old lids, which I've had a hard time finding. Three of the jars are stamped with a 5 on the bottom and one with a 4. The gentleman that I bought the jars from says that he's seen one with a 13 stamped on the bottom - I've only seen those on Ebay.)
Black decorator chain from Lowe's - $8.98
(The chain was 10 feet, but I only used 6 for this project so the real cost would be a tad less.)
I already had the battery powered flicker candles, but they can usually be found in the candle aisle at The Dollar Tree.
Have a happy Monday everyone!
